Peridot is the birthstone of August and the 15th wedding anniversary. It is one of the few stones that occur in only one color: and olive green. The intensity of their green color may vary depending on the content of iron so gems can vary from yellow to olive to a brownish-green. It is also known as Chrysolite. Peridot is very popular in rings, brooches and pendants. Ancient Egyptians mined Peridot on the Red Sea island of Zabargad. They called it the “gem of the sun”.
